Mrs Lateefat Abimbola, the Deputy Director, I.C.T Department of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, was abducted on May 20, 2021, by two suspected kidnappers arrested by the Ogun State police command.
Samuel Oke Abiodun (46 years) and Denis Blessing (28 years) also told the police that they abducted Salam Mojisola on December 6 at the entrance of her house on Akinsanya Street in Mobalufon Ijebu-Ode.
The suspects also “confessed to the kidnapping of one Mrs Olaitan Daodu on January 26 and one Mrs Adegoke along the Atan-Ijebu road,” according to Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Oyeyemi.
Following a series of kidnapping cases in Ijebu-Ode, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, issued a directive to all DPOs in the axis to find the perpetrators of the heinous act as soon as possible.
According to Oyeyemi, the DPO of Igbeba division, CSP Musiliu Doga, and his crack detectives had launched a technical and intelligence-based investigation, which led to the arrest of Denis Blessing on December 8 at his Ijebu-Ode residence, in accordance with the CP’s directive.
“Samuel Oke Abiodun was apprehended in his hideout at Ijebu-ode as a result of his arrest and confession.”
“Scouting around, identifying and monitoring their would-be victim from their business places to their homes, and informing other members of the gang who will then block the victim mostly at the entrance of their houses and abduct such person, according to the duo’s own assignment.”
“Their operational vehicle, a Toyota Camry with registration number GGE 200 FN, has also been recovered,” Oyeyemi said on Monday, adding that CP Bankole had ordered the suspects to be transferred to the State CIID’s anti-kidnapping unit.
The police would be on the lookout for other members of the syndicate, he added.
