Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna, has been urged not to leave Nigeria after the 2023 elections by former Lagos governor Bola Tinubu.
On Saturday in Kaduna, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) spoke.
At the sixth KadInvest, an annual gathering put on by the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency, he addressed the audience.

Former FCT minister El-Rufai received advice from Tinubu to “remain back” and work to improve the nation rather than “run away.”
Nigeria needs creative problem solvers. I’m formally pleading with Nasir El-Rufai not to leave for (another) degree.
“He’s heading to Cairo to get his Ph.D., among other things. There are several educated remnants in existence (sic). You will not be permitted to flee by us.
“At this crucial time, your vision, inventiveness, and fortitude in making a bad situation worse are required.
In his speech, the co-founder of the APC stated, “That is why we are here today.”
Social media users have responded to Tinubu’s statement that turning “a poor situation into a rotten one” is a good thing.
El-Rufai, his Jigawa and Kebbi equivalents, Muhammad Abubakar and Atiku Bagudu, as well as former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Lamido Sanusi, were also present at the occasion.
Maryam Katagum, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment, spoke on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The keynote speech by Sanusi, a former emir of Kano, was entitled “Improving subnational resilience against global economic shocks.”
