During its Tuesday weekly meeting, the Commission announced this.

The development was verified in a statement released on Tuesday by Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

As of March 27 to April 17, 2023, according to Okoye, are the dates for the parties’ primary elections.

In accordance with Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act of 2022, which mandates INEC to publish the Notice of Election not later than 360 days before the date set for the polls, Okoye claimed that the decision is in compliance with the law.

According to the electoral umpire, the current governor of Imo State has until January 14, 2024, to complete his or her term. The governors of Kogi and Bayelsa States have till January 26, 2024, and February 13, 2024, respectively.

Additionally, INEC stated that the three States would publish the required notice for the governorship elections on November 14, 2022.
