The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba has said the Nigerian Police Force will deploy over 310,973 personnel to ensure a peaceful and secure atmosphere across the Nation, pre-, during, and post- 2023 General Elections.

The Inspector General of Police made this known during the 66th Session of the State House Briefing on Thursday while highlighting the plans and processes being put in place by the force.

 

According to the police chief, the personnel will be drawn from conventional policemen and women, mobile police, special forces, intelligence response team and the counter terrorism unit, amongst others.

 

The IGP highlighted challenges that may affect the elections to include fuel scarcity, availability of funds and subsequent attacks on critical infrastructure as well as INEC facilities.

 

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police also issued a strong warning to anyone who plans to disrupt the country’s 2023 general elections. END!!!!
