The joint ticket of Tinubu and Shettima in the general election of 2023, according to a pro-APC advocacy group operating under the aegis of Progressive Sisters’ Network, presents higher potential for women’s emancipation in Nigeria.

The group claimed that based on the backgrounds of the two men, who were both former governors of their respective states, they would be more concerned with guaranteeing equity for Nigerian women.

The Network’s National Coordinator, Rinsola Abiola, made this claim on Sunday during her welcome speech at the group’s sister-to-sister campaign’s launch in Abuja and the installation of the group’s leadership.

Our main goal right now is to do our part to get women to vote for our father, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is running for president, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima. This is why the Sister-to-Sister Campaign was created.

Our message is clear: the Tinubu/Shettima ticket offers Nigerian women the best chance at equity, and this claim is supported by both men’s credentials of public service.

Abiola continued by stating that Tinubu had mentored numerous women in politics in addition to prioritizing women’s empowerment in Lagos State.

“I challenge other presidential contenders and their supporters to tell us what they have done for women,” says Asiwaju. “There is no leader in Nigeria’s political landscape who can lay claim to empowering and mentoring as many women as he has.”
She also praised Kashim Shettima, Tinubu’s running mate, for his attempts to mainstream gender issues while leading Borno state, noting that he had four female commissioners and various women’s empowerment initiatives.
