Mu’azu Jaji Sambo of Taraba State was confirmed as a minister by the Senate on Tuesday.
He succeeds Mamman Sale, the former Minister of Power, who was fired in September along with Sabo Nanono, the former Agriculture Minister.
In a letter dated December 8, 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari asked the Senate to confirm the nominee.
During his interview, Sambo stated that he was aware of the issue delaying the start of the Mambila power project and promised that if appointed to the power ministry, he would make a difference within a year of taking office.

“The experience I’ve gained over the course of my 35 years of service, which has spanned various fields, will assist Mr President in his drive to address the country’s infrastructural deficit,” he said.
In response to questions about the Mambila power project, he said it was disappointing that Nigerians were still talking about it in 2021, despite the fact that it had been in the works since the First Republic.
An arbitration case in Paris, he said, had been the major stumbling block to the project’s launch.
“There has to be a way for us to compensate the company that sued us.” If I am appointed to the Ministry of Power after Senate confirmation, I will undoubtedly make a difference in a year. He stated, “I know where the problem is and how to solve it.”
