Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu has reacted as two female Nigerian police officers, Blessing Obaze and Obaze Emmanuella Uju were suspended for a TikTok video of theirs that went viral on social media. In the video, the officers could be seen in uniform and also in sultry outfits.
According to an announcement made by the police public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi the officers were suspended for social media misconduct and another which he described as an “illegal and oppressive act against the police officers”.
Reacting to the suspension of the officers, Aisha Yesufu said that the police would have used the female officers for promotion instead of suspending them.
She said that the female officers would have changed the perspective of most people towards the police as it shows that police can also live a glamorous life. She said that it could have served as a way of sending a message to the younger people who are skeptical about joining the police.
Speaking on the outfits of the ladies, she said that everyone has the right to their bodies so it’s their choice to expose or cover them. She said that everybody can’t share the same ideas or religious views in terms of outfits.
