A cross-section of Nigerian women say former Nigerian First Lady, Maryam Babangida, has done a lot in national development by way of women empowerment, and it is therefore unfair that she is not being immortalized.
This line of thought summed up different views by a cross-section of women at a one-day public hearing by the Senate Committee on Women Affairs on a Bill seeking to amend the National Centre for Women Development Act 2004 and rename the Centre after the late former First lady.
The public hearing was an event that afforded all the speakers opportunity to lend their voices to some key approaches to women empowerment from the legislative standpoint to reaching out to women at the grassroots.
