Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has charged Nigerians to continue to pray for their leaders to enable them to succeed as they lead the country to the desired destination.
The Deputy Governor who gave the charge today at the annual Ramadan Lecture/Ptayer of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Council, held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island, said there is no leader that inspires to fail.
He said, “Nobody will contest for a position of authority with the intention to fail, so there is the need for us to use this period of Ramadan to pray to Allah to prevent them from derailing from their promises”.
Speaking further, Hamzat stated that the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu administration is set to fulfill her election promises to the citizens of the state by working harder and ensure that the citizenry gets the dividend of democracy as the administration intends to focus more on education, infrastructure development, economy amongst others
He said “The reality is for us to work hard and make sure that everybody gets the dividend of democracy which include peace because without peace we cannot do anything. We will focus on education for everybody, to focus on infrastructure for everybody among others”.
Commenting of the level of moral decadence in the country, Hamzat tasked parents to take good care and interest in the proper upbringing of their children and family unit. He noted that parents should be blamed for the increased level of social vices witnessed in the Nation presently as the family unit is the foundation of any society.
Earlier in his goodwill message, the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdul Rafiu Sanni, described the month of Ramadan as a month of forgiveness which every Muslim should take advantage of to seek forgiveness for their sins from the Almighty Allah.
He added that whosoever allow the month to pass away without having his sins forgiven has lost everything. The National President, therefore, charged everyone to endeavor to move closer to Almighty Allah and take the reward as much as possible of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Similarly, in his Remarks, the Chairman of the event, Vice Admiral Jubrila Ayinla (Retd.) stated that the Month of Ramadan provides an opportunity for Muslim faithful to focus on the reflection of spiritual growth, forgiveness, patience, compassion for those less fortunate and unity across Muslim communities.
He added that the sacred time reminds everyone of the common obligation to uphold the dignity of every human being, He said, “We all are enjoined to abide by rules and regulations of observing Ramadan as enshrined in the Holy Quran by Almighty Allah, who has adequate measures and rewards for all our deeds, either good or bad”.
In his lecture with the theme, “Towards the Ultimate Success: The Method, Map, Means and Compass” the National Missioner of the Society, Sheik AbdurRahman Ahmad urged Muslims to be modest in their living, saying things we cherish such as luxurious houses, cars amongst others are enjoyment of the world and cannot give one joy and rest.
He added that wealth comes with its own problem, rather than chasing after earthly and temporary things, people should always be mindful of the day of reckoning. The Missioner noted that people should chase after peace, joy, and thing that will enhance mental health, adding that the greatest source of joy is someone that has tasted faith (Iman) in Allah and solely trust in God.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Council Chairman, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olabode Saludeen stated that the month of Ramadan has taught Muslims many lessons which include being compassionate to their fellow beings, compete with one another in righteous deeds, work to alleviate the pain and suffering of the poor and the needy and be more tolerant band embrace peace anywhere they are.
