At the Pulling/ Sailing out ceremony in honour of the outgoing Chief Of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal.Z. Gambo, it was a parade of gallantry and honour to his 27 years in service of the Nigerian Navy.

Speaking at the event, he was full of emotions as he recounted the past two years of eventful progression and leadership of value and dynamism in the Navy, under him.

Citing the control of illegal oil bunkering and piracy to the barest minimum, the protection of Nigeria’s territorial waters and the use of technology to minimize costs of operations across various operational commands, he said that he could not be prouder of leaving indelible marks of repute in the Navy while also steering the force to achieve global repute and delivering on their constitutional role. The standard, economic progress and constitutional roles of the Nigerian Navy, have been maintained and set to match to global standards.

Vice Admiral Gambo ( CFR) began his career as an officer cadet in 1984. He described it is a journey filled with challenges, thrills and worthy experiences.

The event included a Parade, March past as well as the symbolic act of Pulling Out and Sailing Out by Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo.

Gambo is succeeded by Rear Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla.
