The Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Lagos State, Mrs. Mobolaji Daba, was on Wednesday inducted and decorated as Special Traffic Mayor of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Speaking after the decoration, which took place at the Office of the Permanent Secretary, the Roundhouse Alausa, Ikeja, Mrs. Daba charged LASTMA Officers to be more dedicated, professional and continue to promote a positive image of the agency, as they enhance traffic management in the state.
She noted that their dedication and commitment to duty have significantly helped in reducing congestion and promoting seamless traffic flow in the State, stressing that their role in maintaining order and discipline on Lagos roads is important and cannot be underrated.
The Permanent Secretary said, “LASTMA has been doing a good job and I want to commend every one of you and urge you to continue to put in more effort in the discharge of their job as there are rewards for every good effort. Sometimes, the commendation and recommendation may not come when you believe they should come, just know that people are watching and seeing you”
In addition, she encouraged LASTMA officials to always do what is right on the road, adding that “Just know that the opinion of one, two, three people matters. If anything happens they will say no, I know that organization, they are not like this, they are not like that, so just keep doing the right thing always.
The Permanent Secretary, therefore, expressed her sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Transportation Family and the agency for the honour bestowed on her and expressed her readiness to support the agency to ease traffic congestion in the state.
Earlier in his address, Director, Traffic Advocacy and Special Traffic Mayor, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Jimmy Awoyemi noted that the induction and decoration is an initiative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, and the General Manager LASTMA Mr. Olalekan Bakare Oki.
The Director added that the motive is to get the assistance, support, and cooperation of the Body of Permanent Secretaries in the state for LASTMA in the management of traffic, stressing that “It is believed this will yield a positive economic improvement in the state.”
