The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called on members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos to turn out in large numbers to vote for the candidates of the party in the forthcoming Local Government Election slated for Saturday, July 12, 2025 across the State.

The Deputy Governor, who made this call on Saturday at the APC Campaign Rally for Lagos East Senatorial District in Ikorodu, stressed that APC is the ideal party for Nigerians, urging its members to work harmoniously for the success of the party in the elections.

According to him, “I want all our party faithfuls to come out en-masse to vote for all the party’s candidates, as the party has provided many developmental projects to leverage on during the campaign. “I have been to many of the 20 Local Government Councils, and the 37 Local Council Development Areas and I was surprised and impressed at the projects completed and commissioned by our current Chairmen. This shows the levels of our performance as a party. We have records, and we are loaded, not empty barrel”. Boasted Hamzat.

The Deputy Governor added that the Governor and himself had personally commissioned many of such projects, including the Members of the National Assembly who have also commissioned some, noting that the party has a lot of completed projects to talk about.
“So we should consider ourselves lucky that we are doing well at the local governments, states, and national levels” he said, admonished the people not to listen to those saying negative words about the nation, assuring that the country is moving forward.

While emphasizing that APC is the only party to organise such a mega rally to support its candidates, Hamzat urged members to close ranks and avoid any internal wrangling to ensure success at the forthcoming polls.

The Deputy Governor congratulated every party member for having the father of the party as the current President of the Nigeria, stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working hard in enhancing the living standard of the citizens , alluded to the signing of four important bills last Thursday, with the intention to correct the nation’s taxation system.

Earlier in his remarks, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the Senate, Senator, Tokunbo Abiru, stated that the event underscores the crucial role that grassroots play in the politics and development of local governments and LCDAs in the State.

The Senator added that the upcoming Local government election also plays a significant role in the development of the locality stressing that it is an opportunity for them to begin to build and consolidate APC’s progressive agenda across all the local governments and in all the Local Council Development Areas across the state

His words, “So, the main purpose of today, I would like to say, underscore the importance of the crucial role that grassroots plays in the politics of our local government and of course, the development of our local government and LCDAs. My dear people of Lagos East, and our great party, the All Progressive Congress, APC remains committed to the delivery of the impactful governance, both in Lagos East and in Nigeria in general.”

He, therefore, charged and encouraged Logos East citizens to begin with the mobilization of grassroots support from house to house, street to street, and corner to corner, in order to make sure that the election has a meaningful outcome.

Similarly, in his address, the Chairman, Lagos State All Progressives Congress, Pastor. Cornelius Ojelabi urged the Party faithfuls to mobilize for the success of the upcoming local government election, stressing that the grassroots play a vital role in the success of the community.

“I want to plead that every one of us, when we leave this place, let us make sure that we continue to knock on door by door. Talk to our neighbours about the election and the progress APC has made in your community. We want to make sure that we reach out to the electorates. Please, let all of us come together and contribute our quota towards the success of this forthcoming local government election,” he concluded.

He charged those aggrieved over the outcome of the party primaries, for the interest of the party, to close ranks and work for the success of the party at the polls.

Highlight of the rally, was the presentation of the party candidates in the various local governments and LCDAs that made up the Lagos East Senatorial District.
