Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has enjoined all party members to come out in large numbers to canvass for votes for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the need to sustain the tremendous progress achieved across the state.
Dr. Hamzat gave the admonishment on Monday at the 2025 Local Government Election Lagos West II Senatorial District Mega Campaign Rally, held at the Open Field, Beside FGC Ijanikin, Lagos, Badagry Expressway.
The Deputy Governor said that supporters’ votes are essential, adding that the exceptional developments in Lagos are only possible because they voted for the present administration. He cited the completion of major infrastructure projects such as the only intra-state railway in Nigeria and across Africa.
According to him, “Our Leader is the President of this country, and we must not disappoint him. We need to show our support by voting massively for our candidates. There is no other party in Lagos that is engaging with the people and delivering on promises the way we are. We urge everyone to go out, support the party, and cast your votes.”
Highlighting the key achievements of the present administration, such as extensive road constructions, modern hospitals, and revamped schools, that have significantly improved the quality of life in Lagos, Hamzat said that the government will continue to demonstrate its commitment to progress and ensure to build a ‘Greater Lagos Agenda’ together.
The Deputy Governor also lauded the State Cabinet members, who he said are performing excellently. “We are proud of their efforts. We must build on this progress by ensuring every one of us comes out to vote for our party candidates during the Local Government Elections. Our party is moving forward, and we must support both our female and male candidates because they are all competent and dedicated,” Hamzat said.
In addition, he admonished Lagos residents to remain calm, confident, and focused on their civic responsibilities, emphasizing that only through a massive turnout can the continuity of good governance and ongoing development be secured.
In his remarks, Chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC), Pst. Cornelius Ojelabi urged candidates of the Lagos-West II Senatorial District to canvas and educate the Public to vote for APC in the forthcoming Local Government election, adding that their vote is essential.
Pst. Ojelabi said that the people of the senatorial district should vote for the APC Candidates in the forthcoming election to show appreciation to the President and the State Governor for all they have done for the area in terms of infrastructural development and to complement the good work.
He also enjoined the youths in the area to come out en masse to vote for their candidates and not a day to play football. He said, “July 12 is a special Day. It is not a day for our youth to be playing football. It is a day to show appreciation by galvanizing their colleagues to go out and vote for APC Candidates.”
In his welcome address, Chairman, Campaign Council, 2025 Local Government Election, Hon. Babatunde Balogun, appealed to all the Chairmen and Councillorship candidates of the Lagos-West II Senatorial district to unite as one for the continuous development of their localities.
Balogun added that those who became the flagbearers are fortunate. “If you are qualified to become a candidate, particularly the candidate of this local government, you must be capable enough to bring development to your council and your local government area. Now that you have become the flagbearer, I am appealing to you all to court a positive relationship with those who didn’t make it during the primaries. Bring them along, and advise them to join you to unite the council as a whole, so that you can become a formidable team for our opponent,” he said.
Also, in her address, Former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Sarah Sosan, encouraged women to turn out in large numbers to vote for the party in the forthcoming election, highlighting the crucial role their votes would play in sustaining local government progress.
