Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on Saturday voted in Epe for the Local Government Election, describing the voters’ turnout in the town as encouraging.
The Deputy Governor, who arrived at his Polling Unit-002, Ward A4, Oke Balogun, Epe by 11:05 am and voted by 11:27 a.m., commended the people for coming out early to perform their civic obligation.
According to Hamzat, “it’s just starting, as you can see. There is a long line of voters, and a lot of people are out here voting. The process has just started. So far, so good. But it’s still a bit early to assess what’s going on. I think the turnout is encouraging.”
He added that in his polling unit, the turnout has been encouraging and it has been good, hoping that it will be the same in other areas.
Speaking on the late commencement of the voting process, Hamzat noted that it could be due to efforts by LASIEC to make all necessary arrangements to ensure that voting goes on very well.
He said, “Probably they want to make sure that everything is okay, is tidy. They want to make sure that they get it right. There are about 800 polling units in Epe alone. So, they want to be sure that everything tallies. So, you know, the logistics have to be done.”
