In a move to deepen inter-agency collaboration and strengthen institutional ties, the Assistant Controller General of Corrections (ACG) in charge of Zone A Headquarters, covering Lagos and Ogun States, ACG Jude Agboje, paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025. The visit focused on fostering closer cooperation between the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) and the Nigerian Army, particularly in the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates within the Zone A corridor.
In a statement released by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the courtesy call underscored a shared commitment to enhancing national security through institutional partnership and capacity building. ACG Agboje, during the visit, highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration, especially in vocational training, manpower development and the provision of facilities that could improve inmate rehabilitation outcomes and reduce recidivism.
Responding, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s readiness to support sister security agencies within its Area of Responsibility (AOR). He praised the professionalism and resilience of officers of the Nigeria Correctional Service, commending their efforts in managing correctional centers under challenging conditions.
Major General Mijinyawa further assured that the Division would continue to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, particularly in the area of facility security and crisis response. He directed field commanders within the Division to maintain close operational and communication links with nearby correctional institutions to ensure proactive collaboration and mutual support.
The visit concluded with the exchange of official souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book and group photographs;g Symbolic gestures that reinforced the spirit of partnership and shared responsibility between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Correctional Service.
