In a bold and expertly executed operation, troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA (OPUK), have dismantled a kidnap cell operating within the dense Orokam Forest corridor, an expansive stretch linking Udenu LGA of Enugu State with Ogbadigbo LGA of Benue State. The high-precision raid culminated in the successful rescue of 14 abducted individuals.

The mission was initiated following credible intelligence supplied by alert community members. Acting with urgency, troops working seamlessly alongside local vigilante operatives, launched a coordinated assault on a concealed hideout deep within the forest. The kidnappers opened fire upon sighting the advancing team, sparking a tense exchange. However, the joint force’s superior tactical positioning and disciplined fire response quickly overwhelmed the criminals, forcing them to abandon their victims and flee deeper into the bush.

Preliminary findings revealed that the victims, kidnapped over the weekend on their way back from a burial, were held in scattered clusters across the forest terrain. Intelligence also confirmed that the group was abducted from two different communities, Ezimo Agu in Udenu LGA of Enugu State and Orokam in Ogbadigbo LGA of Benue State.

All rescued persons have since been safely handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of Udenu Division for thorough profiling and arrangements for reunification with their families.

With this operation, the Nigerian Army reinforces its commitment to sustaining strong security pressure across the South East theatre, maintaining vigilant battle space dominance and ensuring that criminal networks have no room to regenerate or operate.
