The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has carried out a coordinated security operation that led to the dislodgement of a criminal hideout in Gidan Drama, within the Agbo Malu area of Apapa, Lagos State. The raid, conducted on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, followed credible intelligence indicating that the location was being used by suspected drug peddlers to store and distribute illicit substances.
In a statement released by the Base Information Officer of NNS BEECROFT, Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, the Navy confirmed that personnel recovered several banned substances during the operation, including cannabis sativa, codeine and other illegal drugs believed to be intended for circulation within the community.
Naval officers reported that the suspected criminals fled the scene upon noticing the approaching security team, leaving behind the illicit items. No arrests were made during the operation.
During the formal handover of the recovered substances, the Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Rear Admiral Paul Ponfa Nimmyel, represented by the Executive Officer, Captain Idongesit Udoessien, highlighted the operation as part of the Navy’s broader effort to curb the spread of illegal drugs, particularly among young people and to strengthen national security.
He noted that the success of the raid reflects the continued enforcement of the Chief of the Naval Staff’s directive to eliminate crime and criminality within Nigeria’s maritime and coastal environments through sustained operations and inter-agency collaboration.
The seized drugs were officially handed over on Monday, February 2nd, 2026, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Festac Area Command, for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
