A 62-year-old Lagos-based businessman, Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke, was arrested at Kano’s Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport on January 31, 2026, while attempting to smuggle 95 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.589kg to China. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted Izueke during a body scan, and he subsequently expelled the cocaine pellets.
The NDLEA also reported several other seizures and arrests, including:
– 627.7kg of skunk seized in Kubwa, FCT
– Methamphetamine hidden in yogurt packs and Mp3 speakers intercepted in Taraba and Abuja
– 420kg of skunk seized in Ondo state
– 395,400 capsules of tramadol seized in Kwara state
– 149.6kg of skunk seized in Oyo state
– A Colorado factory raided in Ibadan, with the kingpin arrested
The NDLEA chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers involved in the operations and urged them to maintain their professionalism.
