Commodore Ajomabi Oride has officially handed over command of Nigerian Navy Ship VICTORY to Commodore Shuaib Ahmed in a colourful ceremony held at NNS VICTORY, Calabar. The event featured a farewell parade, formal handing and taking over of command, and a reception in honour of the immediate past Commander.
In his farewell address, Commodore Oride expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the successful completion of his tour of duty. He highlighted key achievements recorded during his tenure and commended the officers and ratings for their dedication and professionalism. He also appreciated the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas, for the opportunity to serve, as well as the Government of Cross River State and the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command for their support.
Speaking after assuming command, the new Commander, Commodore Shuaib Ahmed, pledged to consolidate on the gains achieved and further strengthen the operational effectiveness of the Base.
On behalf of the Executive Governor of Cross River State, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, lauded the outgoing Commander for his commitment to securing the maritime environment and the state. He reaffirmed the state government’s continued support for the Base.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, retired senior officers, heads of government agencies and other institutions, Service Commanders, and captains of industry.
