The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has handed over five bags of Cannabis Sativa to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos. The consignment, weighing approximately 500kg, was seized on February 18, 2026, after the NNS BEECROFT Quick Response Team intercepted a van suspected of transporting illicit substances in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Lagos State.

Commander NNS Beecroft, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, speaking at the handover ceremony, said the interception reflects the Nigerian Navy’s efforts to curb illegal activities within the country’s maritime environment. He commended Naval personnel and reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies to secure Nigeria’s coastal corridors.

The seized narcotics were handed over to Deputy Commander of Narcotics Adejumo Gbenga Ayo for further investigation. This development highlights inter-agency cooperation aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks and ensuring a safer maritime domain.

The handover ceremony took place at the NNS Beecroft premises in Apapa, Lagos, on Friday, February 20th, 2026.
