Troops of the Joint Task Force Southeast (JTF SE) Operation UDO KA have foiled a kidnap attack and rescued five victims in a swift night response operation on February 20, 2026. The incident occurred at the 9th Mile axis, within the 82 Division Area of Responsibility, where commuters were allegedly attacked by suspected IPOB/ESN elements.
The troops, demonstrating exceptional vigilance and combat readiness, mobilized to the scene and engaged the armed elements, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee. The five kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt, and their vehicle was recovered intact.
The operation dealt a significant blow to the criminal network operating in the area. The troops have sustained aggressive patrols and area domination to prevent regrouping and track fleeing suspects.
The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, securing critical routes, and dismantling criminal and terrorist networks in the Southeast. Citizens are urged to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to achieve lasting peace, stability, and security across the region.
