The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Iloabanafor, has urged policymakers, corporate organizations, and civil society groups to support the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) as it prepares to mark its 20th anniversary.
Speaking at the 2026 Africa Languages Week at the University of Ghana, Prince Iloabanafor emphasized the importance of investing in African languages to unlock inclusive development across the continent. He noted that engaging Africa’s over 600 million indigenous language speakers could transform business outcomes and promote social cohesion.
The event featured the unveiling of ACALAN’s new logo and discussions on strategies to promote African languages. Prof. Dr. Vicensia Shule, Acting Executive Secretary of ACALAN, called on stakeholders to design initiatives that convert linguistic research into tangible results.
Prince Iloabanafor renewed his call for partnerships and support for ACALAN’s year-long 20th anniversary programme, aimed at repositioning African languages as central pillars of social cohesion and sustainable development.
