Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called on youths to take proactive steps to shape their future by preparing themselves, maintaining focus, and developing practical solutions to societal challenges.
Speaking at the 2025/2026 ‘IBILE Youth Leadership Seminar’ in Lagos, Hamzat stressed the need for young people to move beyond identifying problems to becoming innovators and change agents for the growth and development of Lagos.
He emphasized that leadership does not require formal permission, but rather is defined by courage, responsibility, and the willingness to take initiative. The Deputy Governor noted that Lagos State’s population is largely made up of youths, representing both an opportunity and a challenge.
Hamzat highlighted the state government’s initiatives, including investments in technology and the SMART City vision, aimed at driving growth and development. He expressed optimism that young people will rise to convert challenges into innovations.
The event was attended by the Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, and the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, who commended the organizers of the IBILE Youth Academy for nurturing leadership and civic responsibility among young people.
