The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a former two-term Councilor at Ibeju-Lekki local government council in Lagos state, Sheleru Sadiq Olalekan, 45, for allegedly selling and trafficking illicit drugs. He was arrested at his Ilado, Ibeju-Lekki Lagos residence, where 40kg of skunk, a strain of cannabis, were recovered.
In other operations, NDLEA officers intercepted 1,000 pills of tapentadol 250mg concealed in baby diapers, 500 pieces of improvised explosive device (IED) components, and 1.550kg of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis. Several suspects were arrested in connection with these seizures.
The agency also conducted raids in various locations, recovering large quantities of skunk, tramadol, and methamphetamine. In Adamawa state, 122,000 pills of tramadol and 700g of methamphetamine were seized.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers for their efforts and urged them to continue their balanced approach to drug control.
