The President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Olufunmilola Disu, has reaffirmed the association’s commitment to empowering police families, widows, and young girls through targeted programmes. The empowerment programme, organised by POWA, brought together beneficiaries including widows of fallen police officers, women within the police community, and members of neighbouring communities.
Nearly 200 residents benefited from the outreach, which included basic health services and welfare support. Participants received health screenings, including vital checks, to promote early detection of health challenges and encourage preventive care.
Mrs. Disu emphasised POWA’s commitment to the welfare of police families and communities, saying, “This is about standing with the families who have given so much in service to the nation. Supporting widows of our fallen heroes and empowering women within the police community is both a responsibility and a duty we must continue to uphold.”
The programme also focused on young girls from the Police Secondary School, with sessions designed to inspire leadership, encourage educational ambition, and build confidence. Mrs. Disu noted that investing in girls remains one of the most effective ways to secure a stronger future for society.
