Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned electrification projects in Badagry border communities, saying the investments will have a lasting impact on residents. The projects include three HC Tower Crossings, rehabilitated 33KV distribution lines, and 51 transformer substations, aiming to address longstanding electricity challenges.
Sanwo-Olu stated that the government is restoring confidence, unlocking opportunities, and bringing relief to communities. The intervention aligns with the THEMES+ Development Agenda, focusing on energy access and resilient infrastructure to support economic growth.
The projects will strengthen power distribution, benefiting thousands of homes, shops, and businesses. Badagry, a historic town and important gateway, holds economic potential for trade and commerce. Residents are urged to protect the infrastructure and take collective ownership.
The Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Sabur Akanbi Oluwa, praised the government’s visionary leadership in advancing sustainable infrastructure. The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye, noted the projects will improve electricity access and quality of life.
