The Nigerian Navy has destroyed an illegal crude oil storage site in Bonny, Rivers State, as part of Operation DELTA SENTINEL. The site, discovered using Maritime Surveillance technology, had four dug-out pits containing 17,500 litres of suspected stolen crude oil.
The Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) BONNY team acted on the intel, destroying the site and recovered products. This move shows the Navy’s commitment to combating crude oil theft and protecting Nigeria’s economic interests.
The operation was directed by Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, and highlights the Navy’s efforts to intensify patrols, surveillance, and inter-agency collaboration.
