The Delta State Police Command has arrested 11 additional suspects in connection with the alleged sexual assaults in Ozoro. This brings the total number of suspects in custody to 15.
The arrests followed a thorough analysis of video evidence and intelligence by the CP Special Assignment Team, led by operatives who acted on the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola’s directive.
The police reiterate that preliminary findings indicate the incident was perpetrated by criminal elements exploiting the situation, and not a legitimate cultural practice. The Command condemns the acts and assures the public of its determination to identify, arrest, and prosecute those involved.
The police urge victims and witnesses to come forward with credible information, assuring confidentiality.
