Six Majors in the Nigerian Army have been promoted to Lieutenant Colonels, with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Adebayo Babalola, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them. The promotion ceremony took place at the 81 Division Officers’ Mess, Victoria Island, Lagos, on April 9, 2026.
The newly promoted officers are Lieutenant Colonels A Sanusi, AI Lawal, LA Ishaku, BJ Gimba, MB Sifawa, and GO Uwagboe, who will serve in various capacities within the 81 Division.
The GOC commended the officers for their discipline, dedication, and professionalism, noting that promotion brings greater responsibility and higher expectations. The newly promoted officers expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff and the GOC for their support and guidance.
