The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects, including two relatives of the victim, in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old man, Stanley Okirie, in Akute, Ogun State. The suspects, Maureen Okirie, 35, Salia Karikari, 15, and Jubril Karikari, 12, were caught attempting to secretly bury the victim’s body.
The police received an anonymous tip-off, leading to the arrest of the suspects on April 9, 2026. The victim’s body had severe head injuries, and a wooden pestle suspected to be the murder weapon was recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act, describing it as cruel and inhumane, and assured the public of a thorough investigation. The suspects are in custody and will face prosecution.
