MRS AISHA IDI ABBAS

President Naval Officers Wives Association

(NOWA)

Mrs Aisha Idi Abbas, National President of the Nigerian Navy Officers’ Wives Association and wife of the Chief of Naval Staff, on Thursday, 30 April 2026, laid the foundation stone for the Nigerian Navy Officers’ Mess and Boat Club at the Western Naval Command Headquarters, Apapa, Lagos. The event was part of her familiarization visit to the command, where she was received by the Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral Abubakar Mustapha. He praised NOWA as a “critical enabler” of naval operations, saying the association’s support at home ensures effectiveness at sea.

Mrs Abbas also visited the Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Commodore Aiyuwor Adams-Aliu, and charged the command to strengthen efforts toward a secure maritime domain. Rear Admiral Mustapha highlighted NOWA’s impact in welfare, education, healthcare, and empowerment, noting it aligns with the Chief of the Naval Staff’s Command philosophy. He added that the command combines technology — including Falcon Eye and the Regional Maritime Awareness Capability System — with intelligence and community engagement to tackle maritime crimes, guided by his 4D doctrine: detect, deter, disrupt, and deny.

Commending the FOC for his support, Mrs Abbas restated NOWA’s commitment to naval personnel and their families. “Our association remains resolute in supporting the families of our personnel, recognizing the important role they play in upholding unity and resilience within the naval community,” she said. The visit ended with a commemorative tree planting by Mrs Abbas and NOWA Chairperson, Western Naval Command, Mrs Mustapha.
