The Ogun State Police Command has pledged closer collaboration with the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors to strengthen public safety and curb land-related fraud. Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni hosted a delegation from the NIS Ogun State Branch at the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, where both parties discussed professional integrity and joint action against illegal land activities.
Led by Chairman Surveyor Abiodun Olufemi Liadi, the delegation introduced the Institution’s directory of registered surveyors, designed to help identify licensed professionals and prevent impersonation by quacks. Liadi said registered surveyors operate under strict ethical standards, and presented the directory alongside the Institution’s Code of Conduct for official use. Chairman of the Association of Private Practicing Surveyors, Surveyor Kayode Adekoya, added that unethical conduct attracts strict disciplinary measures, including license revocation.
CP Ojajuni described surveying and mapping as critical to infrastructure, land administration, and community security. He assured the delegation of sustained collaboration on intelligence sharing and public enlightenment, and urged surveyors to intensify sensitization against land grabbing and fraudulent transactions. The visit ended with mutual commitments to deeper partnership and a group photo session.
