NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) has visited two officers hospitalized in Abuja after a violent mob assault during a Dawaki drug raid on 15 May 2026. Officers Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim are under treatment at the National Hospital, where Marwa assured them of full Agency support and top-quality medical care until they are fully fit for duty.
Condemning the attack, Marwa said the Agency will not relent until those behind it are arrested and prosecuted. He told the officers that their safety matters to the state and promised justice, adding that their courage in the Dawaki operation reflects the sacrifice driving Nigeria’s war on illicit drugs.
The NDLEA boss backed his visit with immediate incentives, including personally signed Letters of Commendation and recovery support packages. He also lauded the Agency’s medical team and hospital staff for stabilizing the officers quickly. Marwa stressed that the NDLEA will stay relentless in breaking up drug cartels and making communities safer, regardless of intimidation from criminal groups.
