Maj. Gen. Adebayo Babalola, General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, has unveiled a batch of modernized facilities at Command Secondary School, Iyana-Ipaja, aimed at improving learning conditions, security, and staff welfare. The commissioning on 26 May 2026 was attended by senior military officers, education officials, teachers, students, and invited guests.
Under the leadership of Acting Commandant Lt. Col. Oluwafemi Olagbende, the school completed upgrades including a rebuilt entrance gate, new solar power station, renovated quarter guard and second gate, enhanced CBT centre, refurbished staff room with new furnishings, communication radios, and uniforms for security staff, alongside other infrastructure improvements. Babalola commended the rapid progress since January 2026, saying the projects would create a better learning environment, reinforce security, lift staff morale, and give the school a more modern look. He singled out the solar power system as vital for keeping classrooms, labs, and the CBT centre running without interruption.
The GOC acknowledged the PTA, alumni association, and school management for their role in making the upgrades possible, and encouraged students to stay disciplined and use the facilities responsibly while avoiding bullying. Lt. Col. Olagbende thanked 81 Division Headquarters, Nigerian Army Engineers, and other partners for their support, pledging to maintain a safe and academically focused environment. Highlights of the event included a student-led security system demonstration, cultural displays, a tour of the new facilities, souvenir presentations, and group photographs.
