A team of Nigeria Police Force officers saved the life of a crash victim on the Nassarawa Eggon–Akwanga Road on 27 May 2026, after several motorists reportedly drove past the scene. At about 5:12pm, a Black Toyota Camry with registration ABC-327-MQ skidded off the road during heavy rainfall, throwing the driver, Suleiman Hamidu, out of the vehicle and leaving him badly injured by the roadside.
The officers, attached to the Threat Response Unit of the NPF National Cybercrime Centre and returning from Otukpo to Abuja under CSP Ayuba Nehemiah, stopped immediately despite the weather. They arranged a Keke NAPEP to evacuate Hamidu to the General Hospital, Nassarawa Eggon, where CSP Nehemiah paid for his initial emergency treatment from his own pocket to ensure doctors acted without delay.
After securing treatment, the team notified the DPO of Nassarawa Eggon Division and the FRSC for traffic control, and contacted the victim’s daughter, Aisha Nana, to inform the family. As of the time of this report, Hamidu is stable and receiving care. The intervention has been praised as an example of policing driven by compassion and duty beyond the uniform.
