Chief Mrs. Oluwafunmilola Mutiat Disu, National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association, has called for stronger efforts to protect, educate, and include every Nigerian child. Speaking at the 2026 National Children’s Day event on May 26, she said the theme _“Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child”_ is a reminder that all children deserve equal access to learning, safety, and opportunity.
Disu restated POWA’s commitment to children of police families and beyond, noting that the association recently awarded 20 scholarships across its 19 primary and one secondary school, with priority given to children of officers who died in service. She praised the Force Education Unit for lowering school fees for children of junior officers and said POWA would continue to support programs that make education more accessible.
Addressing the children directly, she encouraged them to focus on their studies and steer clear of vices like drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime, and violence, stressing that discipline and integrity shape the future. She also called for the safe return of children displaced by insecurity, thanked teachers and caregivers for their work, and urged Nigerians to build a society where every child feels safe, valued, and empowered.
