Ogun State Police Command has debunked viral claims of bandit attacks and kidnappings in Ota and Ifo, saying no such incident occurred anywhere in the state. The Command stated there was no attack, abduction, or security breach at Oluke Community High School, Sango Ota High School Ijoko, Fadunsin, Atan-Ota, Sango-Ota, Agbado, Ifo, or surrounding communities. After the false reports spread online, police teams and the School Protection Squad moved in to verify, conducted security assessments at the named schools, and confirmed classes ran normally with students and staff safe.
The Command said the rumors created needless panic, but findings showed academic, business, and social activities continued peacefully across the affected areas. It clarified that 38 foreign nationals from Côte d’Ivoire aged 25-35 were recently arrested in Kajola-Ilese, Atan-Ota, for lacking immigration documents after claiming to be in Nigeria for online business. The suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, and police stressed that no bandits, kidnappers, or terrorists were arrested and none of them were linked to violent crime.
Residents were urged to stay calm, verify security information through official channels, and avoid sharing unverified posts that could cause fear.
