Oyo State Police Command, working with the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team, has rescued Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo, 42, and her 11-year-old twin sons Peter and Paul days after their abduction in Ibadan. The victims were taken on June 3, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m. on Elewura Street, off Ring Road, by four armed men in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Camry while Mrs. Adegoke was driving the children to school. The coordinated operation ended with two kidnappers neutralized, four principal suspects and two hideout agents arrested, and a cache of firearms, ammunition, vehicles, and other exhibits recovered.
The breakthrough followed an immediate manhunt ordered by the Commissioner of Police on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police. Operatives first arrested Wale Abolalewa alias “Oloro,” a suspect already on the Command’s watchlist for related crimes. His interrogation led to Dare Oyedele alias “Solution,” described as a key operational link in the syndicate. Investigations showed the gang had tracked the family since May 2026, recruiting an insider and gathering photos of their vehicles, school, and daily routines. That digital and physical surveillance helped operatives pinpoint the gang’s hideout in Lado community, Ayegun, Ibadan.
On June 6, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., FID-IRT and Oyo tactical teams stormed the location. A gang lookout identified as “Kelechi,” who came in from Lagos, opened fire on the advancing operatives and was neutralized along with another unidentified member. Mrs. Adegoke and her sons were found unhurt and later reunited with family. In custody are Wale Abolalewa, Dare Oyedele, and two agents who facilitated the hideout: Semiu Ishola, 39, and Adeyemi Ayobami, 35. Police recovered 3 pump-action guns, 14 live cartridges, the unregistered ash Toyota Corolla used for the abduction, criminal charms, a battle axe, hammer, suspected hard drugs, and 2 face masks. The Command urged medical facilities to report gunshot cases and called on residents to share credible, timely information on suspicious movements to help prevent crime.
