NDLEA has arrested two elderly drug dealers in Umuahia, Abia State, for selling illicit substances to secondary school students. Pa Godwin Obulunbiya Obiora, 75, was picked up on Friday, June 19, 2026, at his patent medicine store on Club Road with 4.64kg of tramadol and diazepam recovered. Pa Godfrey Orji, 84, was handed over by police after security guards at Saint Silas Secondary School, Old Umuahia, caught him supplying drugs to two SS2 students. One of the 15-year-old students told operatives the grandpa supplied drugs he consumed and sold to classmates. Both suspects will face prosecution while the students are undergoing counseling and rehabilitation.
In Lagos, NDLEA intercepted a 9.5kg shipment of ADB Chminaca, a synthetic cannabinoid, concealed in a carton at a courier firm. The consignment originated from China and was Dubai-bound. On Tuesday, June 16, operatives at another logistics company found 300g of Loud, a potent cannabis strain, hidden inside ladies’ handbags. In Ajah, a raid on the home of wanted dealer Lukman Badmus, alias Lukman Ogombo, yielded codeine syrup and 30g of skunk. A follow-up at his wife Aisha Saraki’s shop on Lagos Island led to more codeine, drug paraphernalia, and 42 blocks of skunk weighing 22.5kg recovered from a minibus. The wife was stopped while trying to flush exhibits down the toilet.
Across other states, NDLEA arrested wanted couple James Tony Chukwudi, 48, and James Kehinde, 35, in Ekiti on June 16 over a March 26 seizure of 117kg skunk. In Oyo, 75-year-old Tudun Olubiyi and two others were arrested on June 20 with 1,416kg skunk hidden under sawdust in Elekara, Oyo town. In Edo, raids in Khagba forest and Ebora Camp led to destruction of over 4,000kg cannabis and the arrest of two suspects with 564kg skunk. NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, retired, commended officers of DOGI, Abia, Ekiti, Oyo, Lagos, Kogi, and Edo commands for the arrests and seizures, and charged them to sustain the balance between drug supply reduction and WADA sensitization.
