The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of FCID Annex, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom psc fdc _mspsp_ MNIM, led his Leadership Team on a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, CON, Oniru of Iru Land, at his Lagos palace. The visit aligns with the Inspector-General of Police’s vision to strengthen community-oriented, people-centred policing through strategic collaboration with traditional institutions and other critical stakeholders.
Welcoming the delegation, the Oniru commended the initiative and described traditional rulers as strategic partners in promoting peace, security, and social harmony. He stressed the need for sustained Police-traditional institution engagement to tackle emerging security challenges and build public trust. AIG Akpanudom said effective policing depends on continuous grassroots engagement and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, improved service delivery, and stronger partnerships with traditional rulers. The monarch also called for better police welfare, capacity building, modern equipment, and increased use of technology, while recommending periodic Police-traditional ruler engagements to boost intelligence gathering.
The visit included a one-minute silence in honour of late DCP Khan Salihu, who died while serving as DCP Finance and Administration, Lagos State Command. Oba Lawal presented his book, _From City to Mega City_, to AIG Akpanudom, followed by exchange of plaques and a palace tour. FCID Annex Lagos said it remains committed to forging strategic partnerships that enhance public confidence and promote a safer society for all.
