FCID Annex Lagos has handled 1,762 complaints and achieved major crime-fighting successes between March 30 and June 25, 2026, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom psc fdc mspsp MNIM said at a press briefing Wednesday. According to him, 56 cases were concluded and charged to court, while 1,725 are at various stages of investigation. The INTERPOL unit rescued 45 persons from traffickers, arrested 4 human trafficking suspects, 4 persons on watchlist/red notice, and repatriated 3 victims. Two suspects were arrested abroad and brought into Nigeria.
Key operations include the June 19 arrest of three suspected telecom facility vandals at Ayobo, Alimosho LGA. Police recovered a locally made pistol, live cartridge, solar batteries, modules, cable cutters, a tricycle, Toyota Camry, and Toyota Sienna allegedly used to vandalize critical infrastructure. The Annex also busted a warehouse at Balogun Trade Fair Market and recovered 331 cartons of counterfeit “Baby Secret Cream” following a petition from Flawless Cosmetics. In a separate case, a 22-year-old woman and a nurse were remanded at Kirikiri for allegedly obtaining ₦16,170,000 from her fiancé under false pretence of pregnancy and for illegal abortion at an Ajah clinic.
AIG Akpanudom said the Annex boosted investigative capacity by training 30 detectives on crypto tracing with US Diplomatic Security Services and IRS, and 6 personnel on ethical standards with Lagos State Security Trust Fund. He cited ongoing infrastructure upgrades and stronger stakeholder engagement with royal fathers, Lagos Chief Judge, NAFDAC, NBA Lagos, and diplomatic missions. “FCID Annex Lagos remains committed to protecting national assets, intellectual property, and combating fraud under IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu’s people-centric policing,” he said, urging the public to share timely, credible information.
