The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, Ogun State Command has taken its non-kinetic advocacy to nearly 180 senior secondary students across six schools at the 2026 All Youth/Secondary Schools Leadership Summit in Ifo. Held at Star Diamond School Hall in partnership with The Global Citizens NG, the summit brought together students, parents, school management, and an expert panel to push an early-intervention “Catch Them Young” approach against cultism, substance abuse, and gang recruitment.
ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, Coordinator of POCACOV Ogun, said the programme aligns with the theme “Personal Leadership and its Role in Building a Safe and Secure Society” by urging students to own their choices, thoughts, and actions. He warned that poor self-leadership makes youths vulnerable to negative influences. Keynote speaker Dr. Julius Osimen spoke on global leadership fundamentals, while mental health advocate Mrs. Florence Freddy and scholar Mr. Taiwo Oyedele handled sessions on psychological resilience and character development. Parents and educators were also charged to build early-intervention monitoring systems for at-risk behavior.
The event ended with students taking a mass pledge to reject criminality and act as peer evangelists for positive change and safety in their schools and communities. POCACOV said the outreach reinforces its strategy of combining prevention, mentorship, and community engagement to reduce cultism and other social vices among young people.
