President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on public institutions, the private sector, civil society and faith-based organizations to partner with government in building a prosperous and united Nigeria, stressing that government alone cannot deliver the nation of citizens’ aspirations. Represented by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, at the commissioning of the new National Headquarters of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria in Surulere, Lagos on Saturday, the President said sustainable national development is a shared responsibility. He commended the Okunnu family and the Ansar-ud-Deen Society for over a century of contributions to education, healthcare, humanitarian service and moral development, describing the Society as a steadfast partner in the country’s progress.
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, urged Nigerians to uphold core values of integrity, discipline, patriotism and respect as the foundation for sustainable development and national unity. He cautioned that no nation can thrive without a strong moral compass, and charged religious leaders to continue championing education, noting that meaningful development is impossible with an uninformed citizenry. The Grand Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaimon Abdul-Noulla, also commended the Society’s widespread presence across Lagos through its schools and healthcare institutions, highlighting its commitment to education and community service.
In his welcome address, National President of Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem, SAN, reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to partnering with the Federal Government to advance national development. He said the Society will remain a dependable ally in building a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria through quality education, character development and service to humanity. Kazeem described the commissioning of the new headquarters, named the Alhaja Hassanat Abebi Okunnu House, as more than the unveiling of a building, but a symbol of the Society’s renewed commitment to strengthening its institutions and expanding its impact nationwide.
