ABUJA — The Federal Road Safety Corps has alerted the public to fake text messages notifying motorists of purported new traffic offences and urging them to click a link to view details.

The Corps said the messages, circulating via SMS and social media, redirect to a deceptive site such as “frscgov.top/ng” which has no connection to the FRSC. Its authentic platform is http://www.frsc.gov.ng. The fraudulent texts create urgency to trick victims into revealing personal, banking and vehicle information.

The FRSC warned motorists not to click, pay or share sensitive data via unsolicited links, and to verify any offence through official channels or the 122 toll-free line. It said it will work with relevant security and cybersecurity agencies to track those behind the impersonation. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed urged Nigerians to STOP. VERIFY. REPORT. and circulate the warning to prevent further victims.
