The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has pledged to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force through interventions in training, equipment and mobility ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
Executive Secretary, Mohammed Sheidu, made the commitment in his goodwill message at the 2026 Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) held at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre, Owerri, themed “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections.” He said NPTF’s role is to align procurement with operational needs identified by police leadership.
Sheidu stressed that professionalism and impartiality at polling units are key to voter confidence, urging senior officers to enforce strict standards, adding that capacity building must extend beyond one election to permanently strengthen national security.
