Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has charged content creators to go beyond chasing visibility and build viable businesses from their talent.
Speaking at PodFest Naija 2026 at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Hamzat said the creative industry needs stronger systems around contracts, payments, IP protection and access to finance. “Build businesses, not just brands. Own your intellectual property, register it and protect it,” he said, urging creators to use their platforms to tell positive Lagos stories and create jobs.
He said Lagos has deployed over 3,000km of fibre infrastructure from 2019 to 2025, targeting 6,000km to support creators, while working to make funding via LASRIC and LSETF more accessible through the Citizens Gate platform.
