The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned a 30-seater solar-powered computer laboratory at Agunbiade Victory High School, Magbon, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The project was executed under the COAS Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) scheme in honour of Major General Ismail Dapo Oloyede, an alumnus of the school who facilitated the intervention as a way of giving back to his alma mater.
Represented by the GOC 81 Division, Major General Adebayo Babalola, the COAS said the facility, equipped with high-speed internet, will enhance digital literacy, research and innovation for students and residents of Magbon community, urging stakeholders to ensure its proper maintenance and protection.
Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General Mohammed Indagi, said the CIMIC scheme honours senior officers and supports communities that produced them through projects in health, education and infrastructure, while Ogun Education Commissioner, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, commended the Army for supporting digital education in the state.
