The Ebonyi State Police Command has smashed a notorious child-trafficking syndicate and rescued three abducted children.
The breakthrough followed a report in May 2026 by Mrs Ngwe Ukamaka that her two children, aged five months and 11 years, were abducted after she was deceived and taken to Awgu, Enugu State, under the guise of visiting her purported in-laws.
Police said four suspects, including Agu Okechukwu, were arrested on August 14, 2026, for allegedly abducting children and selling them to adopters, while efforts to arrest fleeing members continue and the rescued children will be reunited with families.
