The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned five suspects before the Ota Magistrate Court for allegedly assaulting officers and obstructing police duty around The Bells area, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, on October 2, 2026.
Police said a patrol team had arrested a suspect with a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp, but was ambushed while conveying him to the station. The officers were allegedly attacked with cutlasses, stones and bottles, leading to injuries, damage to their vehicle and escape of the suspect.
The suspects arrested after intelligence-led operations are Morenikeji Badmus, 36; Adedoja Segun, 40; Jeremiah Odise Ugbede Onride, 49; Mike Stephen, 28; and David Odeh, 32. They were charged with conspiracy, serious assault, obstruction and breach of peace, while efforts continue to arrest others. Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, warned against attacks on officers performing lawful duties.
