The Ogun State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure 2027 General Election.
The assurance was given by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni during a strategic visit to the Ogun State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, where he met with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Feyijimi Saseyi, Esq.
During the visit, CP Ojajuni toured the INEC premises and held discussions with the Commission on security arrangements for its personnel, facilities and electoral materials ahead of the polls. He described INEC as a critical institution in Nigeria’s democratic process and stressed the need for sustained cooperation.
“From now until the end of the 2027 General Elections, the INEC office will become our second office,” the Commissioner declared, noting that preparations would be anchored on intelligence-led policing, early threat assessment, effective information sharing and coordinated deployment to protect electoral officials, voters, materials and facilities professionally and impartially in accordance with the law.
He recalled the security workshop earlier organised by the Command in Abeokuta for security agencies and stakeholders as part of preparations for the 2027 elections, which INEC attended to strengthen cooperation and improve coordination.
In her response, Mrs Saseyi appreciated the visit and reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to working with the Police and other stakeholders. “On our part, we will also be open, transparent and committed to this assignment so that, at the end of it all, we will achieve free, fair, transparent and credible elections,” she said.
CP Ojajuni urged political parties, candidates, supporters and stakeholders to respect the law, shun violence and intimidation, and refrain from acts capable of undermining the electoral process. He encouraged residents to report credible security concerns through the nearest police station or established Command channels and avoid spreading unverified information.
The Command assured residents of continued collaboration with INEC, other security agencies and stakeholders to promote public safety and support a peaceful electoral process, calling on citizens to reject electoral violence and cooperate with lawful security efforts.
